Messages: Assessment and Redesign

Goal: 1. Improve usability of Messages 2. Strengthen connection to 3rd party applications 3. Integrate photo communication seamlessly

Process: Competitive Analysis of other messaging platforms, breakdown existing platform and comparison to other landing page and features, in-person presentation and critiques, wire-framing, usability testing, implementation of feedback.

Tools: Sketch, InVision, Paper Prototyping, Adobe Illustrator and Indesign, Persona Creation.

Outcome: Implementation of “quick action” button, photo sending priority on landing page, and tabs groups for sorting message threads.

This is a self-motivated project and I did not work for Apple, affiliates, or other companies mentioned in this case study.

Chat landing page comparison and breakdown

Mapping the existing flow showed multiple steps to achieve sending a photo. The revised “happy” flow reduces the steps and takes cues from competitors platform flows.
